Mrs. Cassy Paschal, Principal

I am honored to be the principal of Piney Woods Elementary School (PWES) in Chapin, SC. I have been at PWES since its inception and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of bringing this incredible school to life for our students, staff, parents and community. The positive, engaging instructional environment at PWES has created an environment where students feel loved, safe and valued.

I am beginning my 23rd year in education, my 22nd year as an educator in School District Five and my 34th year as a student and/or educator in the district. Before coming to PWES, I served as the principal of Irmo Middle School and Oak Pointe Elementary School. I started my career as a special education teacher at Wilson High School in Florence, SC then came to Irmo Middle to continue my teaching career. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College and master’s degrees in public administration and educational administration from the University of South Carolina. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my daughters, Keiser and Justus, as well as my many pets. Both of my daughters have either graduated from or currently attend school in School District Five. I also enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking and being outdoors. I know we are going to have a great year!
